Week 45

"We have a choice; be faithful and show our good works, or lack faith and have no good works to show."

 Those faces though...

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Just a heads up, transfers aren't for a while so that's why I said still in Baixa last week.

This week was fun. Found a lot of new people and a lot of those people came to church.

I had a division with Elder Openshaw and it was very relaxing. Not having to plan for the day or take charge because of the lack of knowledge of that said area is quite a blessing. We taught a couple of families for the first time and they came to church the next day.

That's about all the news!

This week I want to talk about faith and our actions. A man that we met and began teaching has trouble walking. He can not stand up without the support of a wall or pole or person. When we taught him he accepted and believed that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he needed to join this church. He had a Book of Mormon and had read it wanting to be a part of this church but he didn't think he could because of his condition. Him and his wife and 5 children, they live on the 9th floor of a building and he usually never leaves the house because of his condition. The kids are highly responsible for their father, practically doing everything for him. He expressed his faith and desire to come to church and be baptized and we expressed our desire to help him.

Early on Sunday morning we planned to go help. He was ready at 8 o'clock to leave. And so he was lifted and carried down 9 floors. Then after going to church we returned with him and myself and Elder Ortiz proceeded to carry him up again.

As representatives of Jesus Christ we have the duty to do everything we possibly can to help his sheep come back to Him.

This man has such great faith when he lacks one of the most basic gifts that God has given us, to stand and walk. He will have a perfect body once again and will live with our Heavenly Father forever. I am grateful for this man. I hope to see the day when he and his family will be baptized.

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."      James 2:17

We have a choice; be faithful and show our good works, or lack faith and have no good works to show.

I know that faith in our Savior Jesus Christ is the first thing we need in our lives.

I hope you have a good week!
