Week 67

"...we should all help one another and recognize this divine potential in everyone we meet."

It's harder than it looks!

Hey Everyone!!

So transfers actually happened and I have a new companion! On Saturday Elder Tanner left and Elder Green arrived here!

Last week after email on our p-day we went and did more exploring! And we found this big rock on the beach. See photo...

Then we just kind of hung out the rest of the day.

Later in the week I tried doing some service in a very Mozambican way. I couldn't do it very well. But the women here are able to carry things on their heads with ease!

Also there is something here called Malambe. It's a fruit and it's super good. But a person whom we are teaching made an ice pop of Malambe and strawberry juice. Sooooo good!

So recently I have been reading about the blessing of exaltation. To keep it simple this quote from President Uchtdorf shows exactly what exaltation means:

"We are the literal spirit children of divine, immortal, omnipotent heavenly parents."

We have the literal spiritual DNA to become like our Father in Heaven. Every person we encounter whether we know them well or not has the potential to one day be someone that we would want to worship. We are all trying to obtain the same thing and we should all help one another and recognize this divine potential in everyone we meet.

I love this blessing and this gospel and I glory in my God for this blessing.

I hope you all have a good week!

Love you!

A lot of laughs because they were sure I couldn't do it.

Celeste, the Maxixe Relief Society President, gets my bucket ready to haul.

And here I go...

...spilling MORE than just a drop!

They carried my missionary bag and laughed the whole way.

Pant leg soaked but I arrived at their home. #missionaccomplished

Nature untouched...

Except for this.

On our last p-day together, Elder Tanner and I discovered this rock.

Our ride to the airport on the streets of Maxixe, transfer time.

Sunburned selfie.

The switch. Good-bye Elder Tanner!

Hello Elder Green!

Week 66

"I know that the Savior is always with us. That God blesses each and everyone of us with families. And if we are lucky enough, friends."

"I hope I'll be able to see the "fruits" of our labors here in a couple of weeks."

Hello Everyone!

Transfer time!!!

So I will be staying in Maxixe and Elder Tanner will be leaving! Sad. I was excited for this transfer. But I will be getting a new companion this week named Elder Green! Super cool dude! I don't know him but I am sure he is awesome!

Pretty good week! Bikes are amazing as always.

I really have enjoyed working here in Maxixe and I hope I'll be able to see the fruits of our labors here in a couple of weeks. I have made a goal to focus so completely on the work that miracles are bound to come.

I appreciate all the support that I have received in the past few weeks and I am so excited to work this transfer!

I really enjoyed something that Elder Ronald A. Rasband said: "When we reach out to lift one another, we prove those powerful words: 'No one goes his way alone.'"

We are all beloved spirit children of our Heavenly Father. Life can be difficult, which is all the more reason why we need to LIFT one another. Loneliness is one of the hardest things to bare. No one should have to face the rigors of life alone.

I know that the Savior is always with us. That God blesses each and everyone of us with families. And if we are lucky enough, friends.

I know that every person could use a little help everyday. I hope we can all be the difference in someone's life daily.

Have a great week!

Love you!

Guess who's coming to dinner?

The missionaries!

Sweet momma,

Sweet family,

Sweet papaya!

If you like puzzles...Sister Koch reminds us of our rules in creative ways in the transfer newsletter.

She also likes to wish us a Happy Birthday if we're celebrating within the next transfer. I guess it will be my "Golden Birthday" because I'll be turning 21 on the 21st!

This is what transfers look like...
the yellow highlights who will be transferring to that new area.

I'm in the Nampula Zone in Maxixe, my new companion is Elder Green,
and I'll still be the acting Branch President.

Week 65

"This is why I am here, sharing this great news so that the people I meet can know of this plan of happiness and their lives can be changed forever."

Elder Nimmo  - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Hey Everyone!

This week was pretty good!

I was finally able to watch General Conference! (In Portuguese)

I really liked Thomas S. Monson's talk, as always. He spoke about something that everyone needs to know - The Plan of Salvation!

"Our Father's plan for our happiness and our salvation is shared by our missionaries throughout the world. Not all who hear this divine message accept and embrace it. However, men and women everywhere...recognize its truths, and they plant their feet on the path that will lead them safely home. Their lives are forever changed."

This is why I am here, sharing this great news so that the people I meet can know of this plan of happiness and their lives can be changed forever.

Our leader reminds us that, "Essential to the plan is our Savior, Jesus Christ. Without His atoning sacrifice, all would be lost. It is not enough, however, merely to believe in Him and His mission. We need to work and learn, search and pray, repent and improve. We need to know God's laws and live them. We need to receive His saving ordinances. Only by so doing will we obtain true, eternal happiness."

President Monson continued saying, "We are blessed to have the truth. We have a mandate to share the truth. Let us live the truth, that we might merit all the Father has for us. He does nothing save it be for our benefit. He has told us, 'This is my work and my glory - to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.'"

Our Prophet closed with this testimony, "From the depths of my soul and in all humility, I testify of the great gift which is our Father's plan for us. It is the one perfect path to peace and happiness both here and in the world to come."

I love General Conference and how it reminds us of what we need to work on, how we should continue to grow, and it helps us to remember what we hold dear in our hearts. We are blessed to have the truth and I'm grateful I can be here in Mozambique to share the truth and I'll continue to live it.

I hope you are all doing well and that you have a great week!

Love you!

Elder Nimmo

P.S. Oh yeah, we got bikes.

Elder Tanner, our bikes and our pretty helmets.
First time on my mission that I haven't been walking. #grateful

"It's a lovely day in the neighborhood..."

"...won't you be my neighbor?"

Week 64

"I know that God loves us and he wants for everyone of us to be happy. That is why when we serve others we become happier and the lives of those whom we serve become blessed as well."

"...I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."  Robert Frost

Hello everyone!

It is getting Hot. And it will only get hotter here in Maxixe.

This week was good. A little stressful because we had to figure out a way to download General Conference and play it at church. It took a lot of time which I didn't enjoy. However we successfully downloaded it and showed it on Saturday. However the power was cut on Sunday and so we had no way to show conference at church. So conference will be seen next Sunday.

I really enjoy the work. And when I am working everything passes so much more quickly.

In Mosiah 2:17 it reads:

17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.

This is something we all need to realize. I believe that everyone wants to serve God. He is our loving Heavenly Father, who wouldn't want to serve Him?

I know that God loves us and he wants for everyone of us to be happy. That is why when we serve others we become happier and the lives of those whom we serve become blessed as well.

I love you all so much!

Have a good week!

Week 63

"I am forever grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ…  I hope all people can come to know Him personally and when we do we can love more like Him."

You have GOAT to be kidding me.

Hey Everyone!

I feel like the starts of my emails are getting extremely repetitive. I'll try and switch it up next week.

This week went by super fast! We lost power and water almost everyday for a couple hours throughout the days but it was all good in the end.

The church was the most full it has been since I have arrived in Maxixe so I felt revived yesterday.

My allergy is finally passing and I am really happy about it. I think it was a type of nut that I ate not squid. Oh well.

I got my haircut last Monday. And that's about it! Sorry nothing too exciting.

I really enjoyed reading in Alma chapter 24 this week. It is great so I suggest everyone reviews it this week. It taught me a lot about Sacrifice. True Sacrifice. Sometimes someone we love deeply and care about is doing things that are hurting their lives instead of helping. i.e. breaking Commandments. And in severe cases the hearts of those who have gone astray harden to a point of no return.

We learn in this chapter that the only thing that can rescue someone who doesn't want to be rescued is this Incredible Sacrifice. Christ was not a spectator who couldn’t be influenced by plights here. He was moved with the feeling of our infirmities, our sin, and was tempted like we are, but was without sin. Jesus Christ feels our wounds because they became His wounds, He suffered in the flesh and because of this sacrifice He knows how to support and lift us in our times of trial and distress. I am forever grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ… I hope all people can come to know Him personally and when we do we can love more like Him.

I love all of you I hope you all have a good week!
