Week 83

...it would be very easy for people to give up because of difficulties but I know that even through the tough times we are able to do that which is right, with the Savior by our side and including Him in all we do."

"...the refiner's fire does make us stronger."

Hey Everyone!

This week the work was super good!

We have a couple that we are teaching who are preparing to be baptized on the first of April! We hope they continue progressing towards this life changing blessing. We found a lot of people again this week and we are hoping to continue finding new people to teach. Four people came to church so we were super excited that our area being so far from the church doesn't impede some of our investigators from coming!

It's hard to believe that I will be going home in July. I have enjoyed my mission so much and serving the people here in Mozambique has taught me so much. But it has not been without some adversity and trials, and they have been especially tough as of late. I say this because it would be very easy for people to give up because of difficulties but I know that even through the tough times we are able to do that which is right, with the Savior by our side and including Him in all we do. I have a testimony that the refiner's fire does make us stronger.

In 2 Nephi 31:20 it reads:

"Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life

I know that each and every one of us can continue forward relying on Christ to help us. I know that we need to do our part through enduring the challenges and obstacles that face us. And if we do these things while we continually learn from our mistakes we can become better people, more like Jesus and we can receive the blessing of Eternal life.

I love you all and I desire a great week for all of you!

Love,

Elder Nimmo

P.S. Sorry for the lack of photos - only one. This is like a yogurt made out of something called Marfura. I also had a fish eye this week!

Marfura: This tasted like creamy tree bark...mmmmmm!

Week 82

"How much of life we miss by waiting to see a rainbow before thanking God for the rain."

Cool umbrella hat.

Hey Everyone!

This week was super nice! So we got to teach over 30 new people!

We are very excited for the future of this area, even if we don't reap the seeds that we sow. We know the work we are doing will eventually help change the lives of many.

This week I studied in the Isaiah chapters in 2 Nephi but I love a scripture that is in the second chapter verse 11.

2 Nephi 2:11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

I know that God lets us have opposition because he loves us. God’s law is given unto all men by virtue of the fact that, life and death, as opposites, gives us order and direction in every possible way to live our lives. The prophet Lehi tells us that “men are instructed sufficiently that they know good from evil”, because the opposites of life and death are built into every way we can live our lives to some degree and directs His children to avoid the things of death (evil) and to promote the things of life (good).

I believe God's law of opposition in all things helps us to come to know His divine love for us personally. I loved learning this as I studied.

Hey I am out of time... the internet is terrible today!

Love you,

Elder Nimmo

How about a tour of our new apartment?
By far the nicest place I have lived on my mission!

Our great kitchen! The advantages of living in/near the capitol city.

Blurry cereal.

Washing machine and balcony.

The view.

Not one but two-

nice bathrooms!

And oh so colorful...a rainbow of colors -

a blue bedroom.

My bedroom,

my very purple bedroom.

Our red living room.

We've got green too!

It may be colorful but it has THREE air conditioners!

Week 81

"I really hope that my patience may become a strength and that in the future it will bless my relationships. I think I can learn a lot more about patience this transfer."

Part of the T-3 gang.

Hello Everyone,

Pats Nation!!!!!!!! So pumped! I guess my good luck has a universal range!

So my area changed for now from Intaka to a place called Cumbeza and Guava. Which is a lot closer to where we live. I'm now in the Mahotas ward. I don't think we'll ever get a car now. The work is going well and we are finding lots of people to teach.

We had Stake Conference this Sunday and I saw a lot of people from old wards where I served! T-3 is definitely my favorite ward in Maputo as of now. I saw a member from Maxixe there, Andre Chambal! And we had a great lunch afterwards, BBQ Chicken and Mashed Potatoes.

Our area is huge and I hope we can start having some great success. The new area we are serving in is practically untouched so we're pioneering into a great work. During our week of work, I thought a lot about patience and how it is so important when we think about becoming like Christ. I have had to practice a lot of patience this week.

In 2 Peter 1:6 it reads;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience
godliness;

I really hope that my patience may become a strength and that in the future it will bless my relationships. I think I can learn a lot more about patience this transfer.

I love the mission so much! And I am thankful for all the experiences I have had until now.

I hope you all have a great week!

My old comp Elder Hamilton.

Faque and I connected after Stake Conference. He was the first person that I ever baptized. Last Stake Conference he received the Melchezidek Priesthood.

This is a witch doctor's hut. They were performing a ritual when I took this photo.

Me in a giant hole.

A metaphor for life: Sometimes we're on top of the world...

...and sometimes we're in the pits.

Elder Chir Chir and I had some highs and lows this week, like all weeks.

You can't appreciate the view from the top if you haven't seen the bottom.
It's all in the attitude! Have patience and keep climbing!
