Week 62

"I am fully aware that I am not perfect but I have learned that the worse we are, the harder it is to see ourselves. And the better we become the more clear it is to see how far we had fallen. I hope that we can all wake up our souls and minds and do that which is right."

"I love the gospel and I am loving my mission."

Hello Everyone!

This week has been a pretty good one!

We ended up having a baptism on Saturday of the women that we married, her name is Balbina.

Afterwards we had a financial audit of the Branch of Maxixe. And after that President Goncalves invited us to dinner with him. We accepted and when we went I tried, for the first time in my life, squid! It really kind of does taste like chicken.

I ended up getting an allergic reaction to it though. I guess that's life.

On Sunday I ended up having to speak to the congregation at the last minute because the person who was supposed to didn't come and so being a part of the Presidency I had to step in.

I spoke on 2 Nephi chapter 4, and that is actually what I wanted to share with you all this week.

In 2 Nephi 4:16-17

16 Behold, my soul delighteth in the thing of the Lord; and my heart pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard.
17 Neverthless, notwithstanding the great goodness of the Lord, in showing me his great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth; O wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart sorroweth because of my flesh, my soul greiveth because of mine iniquities.

I was reflecting upon these words and thought about my own well being and how far off I am from goodness. A man such as Nephi saying to himself, "O wretched man that I am!" I am fully aware that I am not perfect but I have learned that the worse we are, the harder it is to see ourselves. And the better we become the more clear it is to see how far we had fallen. I hope that we can all wake up our souls and minds and do that which is right.

I love the gospel and I am loving my mission.

Have a great week everyone!

Elder Nimmo

P.S. I also had pig intestines last night. Not as good as squid.

I baptized the girl named Balbina.

Catching up with great friends!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry, email in Maxixe is terrible. I had written a substantial amount but it wasn't able to be saved due to problems here. Hopefully I'll have better luck next week. So I will make this short and just send photos. Zone conference in Beira: great food, great instruction, great old friends and new ones too.

I have a new companion, Elder Tanner from AZ. My old companion, Elder Hamilton, travelled with me to zone conference and was then sent onto Inhamizua. He had spent a lot of time here in Maxixe so he was ready for a transfer.

Good news is I'm still here and we should be getting bikes soon!

Love to all of you!

Elder Nimmo

Great Mission President and wife, Sister Koch!

Great food!

Great instruction! (I'm the only one looking at the camera.)

Beira Zone Conference (I'm back row, left, with the sun in my eyes!)

While in Beira I was able to visit Meliena who I baptized when I was serving there.

I also visited Elder Johnson.

As well as Elder Takiuevea.

Great Zone Conference and visit to Beira.

Elder Gomes (from Brasil) me and Elder Draney.

Week 60

"...as a missionary I need to leave everything that is not of God behind myself."

Monday, September 12th, 2016

Hey Everyone!

So Transfers have come once again.

I will be with a new companion in Maxixe next week. His name is Elder Tanner. We will both be part of the Branch Presidency.

I will be leaving Maxixe with my current companion Elder Hamilton on Thursday and will be arriving in Beira for a Zone conference.

In our most recent district meeting I remembered that as a missionary I need to leave everything that is not of God behind myself.

In Alma 46:8 it reads:

"Thus we see how quick the children of men do forget the Lord their God, yea, how quick to do iniquity, and to be led away by the evil one."

Often times we lose that sight of the wrongs we commit each day and we fall into temptation. I hope that we can all focus on doing that which is right always and always remember Him!

I love all of you! I hope you have a great week!

Internet in Maxixe...

Hey Everyone!

I flew back to Maxixe after my surgery in Maputo. The stay in Maputo was nice but I didn't leave the office much. My foot is healing well. We're actually getting bikes here soon. I'm happy and healthy.

Sorry this email is so late. We haven't had internet available in Maxixe until last night. But I'll write more on my P-day on Monday and send photos then.

Love you all!
