Week 49

"I am serving a mission trying to help all those that I come in contact with..."

And I am now alone.

Hey Everyone!

Well some changes are happening and it's not even transfers!

Elder Ortiz was transferred to Macurungo. And I am now alone. Today I will start working with a member named Jose and we will see how that goes. I hope that with this change I can still get things done. We'll see how this week goes. Sandra Keenan, I hope you get better from your accident. I pray a lot so I'll make sure to keep you in my prayers. Feel better!

Today I want to share the scripture below....

2 Nephi 31:21

“This is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ.”

I know that truly this is the only way to return to our Father in Heaven and be happy. I am serving a mission trying to help all those that I come in contact with find that same truth.

I love you all!

Have a good week!

Elder Nimmo

P.S. Sorry for the short email. Power was cut and we lost a lot of time to do internet. Next week will be a great email!

A woman we baptized had her baby and named him Iden.

A family in T-3 that I loved, just got baptized!

Good times with Elder Ortiz.

Contemplating my aloneness...

...without this dude! Good luck in Macurungo.

Week 48

"I have never been happier. And that is weird to say because I have probably never faced so many challenges."

Twins.

Hello everyone!

I am excited to have one more transfer here in the Baixa.

We had a really great day this past Saturday and we plan to have a lot more days like it this transfer.

We had a really big going away lunch for all the missionaries that left today to go home. It was really good. A lot of people got sick but fortunately I was not one of them.

We had a really great Sunday again and I took a picture for you guys so you can see one of our friends that comes to church with us every Sunday! Mando, such a nice guy!

I got to teach on Sunday, that was fun. That is pretty much it though.

I just want to testify that this gospel is true. That through this gospel and the truth it contains we can find true happiness. I have never been happier. And that is weird to say because I have probably never faced so many challenges. I love this gospel and I hope everyone who reads this will desire this same joy, enough to search for it if you have not found it, and to guard and nourish it if you have.  I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the same church that Christ established, that brought so much joy to the people who were around Him. I know this is true. I testify of that in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Love you all,

Elder Nimmo

The "Manhava Gang" all wearing matching ties! Nickname because we live in the area of Beira called Manhava.

Meet Mando!

Reason for our great day on Saturday!

Going away lunch for some of these Elders!

Goodbye Elder Smith, good luck in Swaziland!

It doesn't look like we live in a third world country, does it?

Week 47

"I feel grateful to have such great parents, siblings, grandparents, role models, and friends who have helped me to grow and become a better person."

TWO packages are better than one! Although I would have been happy with just one!

Hey everyone,

This week was a pretty good one. We had a great family night, probably the best I have had in my whole mission and we are going to do work a lot harder this last week.

Transfers are next week for those who don't know. We'll see what happens. Stay tuned.

We had a great Sunday with a lot of success. The best Sunday we have had in the area. I really hope whoever does work here next transfer will see the fruits of our labor.

I got my package! I have got to thank my Mom, primarily for everything she did. The biggest package ever! And I have to also thank the best man that has ever worked as the Vice Principal at BHS, Mr. Dempsey. He sure did hook it up sweet. I miss you so much Mr. Dempsey. I'll write you next week! I forgot to bring your email address - my bad.

Lots of pictures this week, I felt like I was in the U.S. again. Still so happy!

1 Nephi 1:1

"I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days."

I feel grateful to have such great parents, siblings, grandparents, role models, and friends who have helped me to grow and become a better person. And it hasn't been the easiest but I am thankful for it all. I love you all so much and I know that families and friends can be together forever. Through Jesus Christ it is possible. I know this is true!

Have a great week!

Love you!

Elder Nimmo

Week 46

"We must realize that all of God's children wear the same jersey. Our team is the brotherhood of man. This mortal life is our playing field. Our goal is to learn to love God and to extend that same love to our fellowman."

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Hey Everyone!

This week went by pretty fast. We had lots of meetings, Zone Conference, Divisions.

I went on a division with Elder Heald in his area (Maraza) and there are a lot of cute kids there!

We found a couple of great new families. You know regular missionary stuff.

Zone Conference was very enjoyable. Not only because of the food, but I actually got a substantial amount out of it! The instruction was also great!

I just want to share a quick thought that President Koch shared with us this Friday that impacted me.

He talked about our closing hymn, "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go", and mentioned how many times when we sing this hymn we forget what we are actually saying. That we sing it just to sing it - when it is truly meant to be sung with a promise to our Lord and Savior that we will do His will.

In the hymn it reads:

I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,
Over mountain or plain or sea;
I'll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;
I'll be what you want me to be.

When we sing these words we are promising to our Lord what we will DO.
We make this promise to Him and this week I realized that I needed to promise Him that I would do exactly what I say. Any one of us would do what God asks of us. This is a way to show God our faith.

I will go where He wants me to go, I'll say what He wants me to say, I'll be what He wants me to be. I know He wants me to be better. I testify of His infinite love. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Have a great week!

Elder Nimmo

P.S. My package didn't come. Sorry mom. But I am super excited to get it this week!

Life is a party!

The best time to celebrate...

We received great instruction from President Koch....
