Week 1

District Leader ="Glorified Mailman"

Tuesday July 28th, 2015
Hey guys!
I got a lot of questions from you all so I'll try and answer them. I received both yours and Kenzie’s mail. Mom and Grandma thank you for the package! My whole zone loved it. Everything is going well I'm loving the MTC! It's not always easy but its worth it. It's especially hard being a District Leader. I feel odd having all these people (11) looking to me for instruction half the time. I am really happy and feel joy every single day. Tomorrow marks the first week of my mission and it feels like I have been here for two. The food can be good or bad depending on the meal and time of day. But I eat a lot every meal, especially yesterday. I have six people in my room including myself. My companion, Elder Jimenez, who is pretty chill but isn't perfect haha, but then again who is. But I love him. Elder Watteyne, Elder Pedersen, Elder Chase, and Elder Nielsen. All six of us are going to Mozambique but only Elder Jimenez is in my district. All of them are from Utah or California. And about how I became DL.. It wasnt really the branch presidency as much as the people in my district. We all chose a person, individually, who we thought would be best for the job. And I guess that's me. We all joke that I'm pretty much a "Glorified Mailman". But besides getting mail I assign lessons for Sundays, make sure everyone is doing well, and everyone is focusing, which is not as easy as you think it might be.

I've made a lot of friends, mostly in our zone and a few really cool guys in our district. Life is pretty regimented in the MTC after Sunday. You wake up, prepare, study for 15 minutes, go to breakfast, go to class, go to lunch, got to class, go workout, go eat dinner, go to class, study, go to bed. each class is at least 3 hours. Ill let you know more about PDay (personal day) next week. Not as tired as I would have expected, but i can see why after 6-9 weeks people can get tired of the MTC. Portuguese! It's coming along well, not great, but good. So far I know how to pray, bear testimony, and give really terrible lessons to "investigators". But it's going good. I started the book of Mormon over and I am in Chapter 17 of 1 Nephi and started reading O Livro de Mormon. I'm only finishing Joseph Smith's Testimony. But Im gonna start 1 Nephi in Portuguese as well.

I don't have a bunch of time to respond so sorry for how little I am able to respond to your questions.

I pray for all of you, and love you guys!

This Church is true, Joseph Smith is a prophet, and Jesus Christ is our Savior. This is my testimony(not the whole thing) In Jesus Name, Amen.

In Portuguese... Este Igreja e verdadiero, Joseph Smith e um profeta, e Jesus Cristo e Nosso Salvador. Este e Meu testumunho. Em Nome de Jesus Cristo, Amem.

Love you all!

Video of Elder Nimmo, last minute hugs, advice and goodbyes before entering MTC

All smiles, no tears for this guy, he is so ready to get this mission started.

Inside the MTC...

A friend of Ali's who works inside the MTC sent this snapchat of Cole meeting his companion for the first time. Notice his Elder Nimmo name tag, it's official!!

First Letter!

Oy! Hi family! I am doing great here at the MTC! We just met with our branch presidency and I was called to be a district leader. Kind of nervous but excited. Started the Book of Mormon over and am excited to receive witness of its truth stronger than I have before. I love my companion and everyone in the MTC. I'm so excited to continue my mission and to learn more and more. I am proud to be a missionary and honored to represent our Savior, Jesus Christ. Mom and Dad, I love you. Also send my love to the rest of the family, to the ward, and to my friends both here and there. Moroni 10:32, that's my scripture. I love you all. My P-day is Tuesday so expect emails then.

With Love,

Smiling through tears 'til we're back together in 2 years

The long goodbye...

Cole had the last get together with high school friends at our home on Thursday and enjoyed seeing  neighbors, ward family and friends at our open house on Saturday night.

Sunday July 19th, 2015   Farewell Talk

Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle and cousin, cars loaded of dear friends from Massachusetts, high school buddies and ward family listened to Cole's farewell talk on Sunday.

A lot of love and support for our son as he is about to "Exit" his life as he knows it!

So special that these friends dressed up and showed support on this special day for Cole.

Our Family then drove to the Concord Stake Center so that President Anderson and Cole's father could give Cole a priesthood blessing and set him apart as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, assigned to serve in the Mozambique, Maputo Mission.

Before being set apart as a Missionary, one goofy and one good shot with the sibs!

Monday July 20, 2015 Manchester Airport

Before he leaves for Utah, one more goofy and good photo!

The last hug :(

Smiling through the tears, until we're back together in two years.
